If you’re a busy woman, or a tired woman, or a lazy woman, or a woman who is a mom, or a woman who has to wake up early, or a woman who has to stay out late (well, you get it) you might love BB cream. You might need BB cream. Why is this? Because it is an all-in-one item. It’s quick, it’s easy, and we don’t have to fuss about different moisturizer, foundation, and sunscreen. We all love BB Cream.
Clean beauty is important to me, because even natural mamas want to look pretty! In my never ending quest to test all the natural makeup, I’ve tried many foundations, moisturizers, and BB creams. I’ve loved using tinted moisturizing ever since I began wearing makeup, and I am always on the lookout for a natural sunscreen to protect my face from the sun. Listed below are three of my favorite BB creams I’ve tried.
But, which one is the best? And, which one uses the cleanest ingredients? Which one offers the most sun protection and the most coverage? Here are the details on three natural, non-toxic tinted moisturizers from W3LL People, 100% Pure, and MyChelle.
W3LL people bio-tint liquid moisturizer is a good product with the skin promoting ingredients of broccoli seed, pomegranate, and collagen, and four choices of shades. It is fairly thin, so it goes on easily and spreads nicely while still offering good coverage. I like the look of this moisturizer, but because of it’s thinness and easy spread-ability the tube did not last me long.
It does contain 30 SPF from 20% zinc oxide, which is good for casual sun protection (I like 30 SPF or higher for my face for long sun exposure). It is the most versatile for skin color, because it does come in four shades.
The ingredients score well on EWG’s Skin Deep database, with most of them scoring a 1 and only a couple slightly questionable ingredients scoring a 3. Overall it scores a 2 which is very good in my opinion. 1.2 oz goes for $28.99 on the website.
This is a good, thick BB cream that is very clean and offers good coverage. It contains aloe, vitamin E, and shea for moisturizing. The only thing I don’t love about it is that it can get a little oily, so if you are prone to oily skin I would not recommend this one.
However, it does offer the most coverage of all three and is the closest to a real foundation. It is SPF 15 from 8.7% zinc oxide and 4.6% titanium dioxide, which is again good enough for casual protection. The product is carried in three shades.
In my opinion, 100% Pure’s BB Cream has the cleanest ingredient list of all three choices, and none of the ingredients really concern me. 1 oz goes for $41 on the website.
This is a very lightweight, tinted moisturizer with bentonite clay. This is what I am currently using, and I really like it. It is not oily at all, in fact the bentonite clay helps absorb excess oil. This works out nicely for me because I can use my oil serum underneath without causing any greasiness!
This product has the best protection from the sun, with 50 SPF and broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection coming from non-nano zinc oxide at 16.1%. It is vegan and reef safe, however it does only comes in two shades, making it the least versatile of the three.
All of the ingredients score a 2 or less on Skin Deep, and I feel comfortable using this product. This is the most cost friendly choice at $18 for 1 oz (at the time of posting) on Amazon.
Above you will see the color and consistency of the three products! Depending on your needs, skin type, and desire for sun protection, one of these BB creams is sure to a winner for you!
